“Hugo Ruiz is as good as it gets. Look no further. We interviewed nine painters at the start, and picked Hugo as he promised to work on the project himself and help us with replacing the roof of our 130-year-old East Lake Victorian ourselves, where it was a difficult task to find a reasonable roofer in the construction-heavy period around the Bay Area. Hugo and his team worked tirelessly on extensive preparations that went well beyond his initial consultation and estimate. He never complained and never brought us worry or concern in pointing out some detailed carpentry work in repairing this old home. He also replaced, patched, and rebuilt sheet metal flashing and other failing aspects of the house including re-working the garage door! Hugo is wonderful in his dedication to producing the best work for his clients, he is energetic and intense, but also incredibly generous (he bought lunch for me and my brother-in-law multiple times as we worked on replacing the roof ourselves), and Hugo is fun to be around. He paid great attention to detail in following Bob Buckter's (Dr. Color) 12-color palate designation. He went back over every window, every sill, and every cosmetic plaster detail, including the cartoushes, some of which were in horrible condition once the old paint was removed. We miss Hugo now that the project is complete, but will be sure to call him for any other repairs or projects that come up as we believe we have a new friend and compatriot.
